In Fantasy Football, What is a JAG?

Posted on October 6, 2022October 7, 2022 by NFL11 Team

In fantasy football, a JAG stands for “just another guy” or an unspectacular player.

There is nothing more thrilling than watching a fantasy football player.

Just about anyone with a fast 40-time is a fantasy darling.

The fantasy manager often has to wait quite a while before realizing that many of these promising players are simply “just another guy”.

A JAG in fantasy football has nothing to do with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

In fantasy football, the Jaguars are sometimes referred to as the Jags, which can cause confusion.

Aside from JAG in fantasy football, other acronyms include GB and

How does a Player Become a JAG?

You may be wondering what qualifies a player as a JAG now that you know what it stands for in football.

We will cover a few factors below that could lead to a player being categorized as a JAG.

Fantasy Hype

Hype plays a role in whether a player is considered a JAG in fantasy football.

When fantasy managers believe a player will be more than a JAG, they use this term.

A player drafted in the seventh round is unlikely to have a significant impact on the team.

As most fantasy players do not expect this player to put up high numbers, this player is referred to as a JAG.

If a player fails to reach a level of promise, he will be considered “just another guy”.

Suppose you draft a wide receiver in the second round who has elite top-end speed.

After a few years of not making any big plays, fantasy managers may refer to this type of player as a JAG.

In simple terms, JAG refers to an average player who once had potential.

Lack of Opportunity

A fantasy football player needs opportunities. These can come in the form of carries or targets.

Players who can’t get on the field and get the ball in their hands will struggle to produce solid fantasy numbers.

Players who are significantly above average will also have an opportunity to receive the ball.

Coaches will realize this and will make sure to get quality players on the field. It is possible that a player is a JAG if he or she does not get any opportunities on the field.

Lack of Production

JAGs are fantasy football players who do not produce.

Fantasy football is all about scoring points, which is the only thing that will earn you a win.

It won’t help you to listen to preseason hype and coach talk during the regular season.

Failure to produce over a prolonged period of time will often earn a player the nickname JAG.

During the regular season, do not let preseason hype or coaches influence you.
