Rob Gronkowski is being pushed aside by Travis Kelce in the record books, and Kelce did so emphatically.
In Sunday’s 30-27 win over the Los Angeles Chargers, Kelce surpassed 100 yards for the 33rd time in his career, breaking a tie with Gronkowski for the most such games in NFL history by a tight end.
In the fourth quarter, Kelce scored a 17-yard touchdown — his third touchdown of the night — that took him past the century mark for the fourth time in his career. Taking his final catch was dramatic and history-making, giving Kelce six receptions for 115 yards and three touchdowns.
Against the Titans in Week 9, Kelce, a seven-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro, tied Gronkowski for the most 100-yard games with 32.
Gronkowski retired this offseason and recorded his 32nd 100-yard game in just his 143rd game, which also happened to be his last (barring a comeback). The 33-year-old Kelce hauled in seven catches for 137 yards against the Carolina Panthers in Week 18 of last season. In game No. 137, Kelce holds the record for his 136th career game.
