What was Michael Vick’s 40 Time?

Posted on October 11, 2022 by NFL11 Team

As the number one overall pick in the 2001 NFL draft, Michael Vick had one of the most successful careers among dual-threat quarterbacks. Despite his ability to run the ball effectively, many people don’t know Michael Vick’s 40 time.

At the 2001 NFL combine, Vick ran a 40-time of 4.33, which was significantly faster than any other quarterback in the draft.

A forty-yard dash official time is different from an unofficial time. Official times are slower than unofficial times because they are calculated using electronic timing.

Unofficial 40 times use hand timers that can be shaved by a few milliseconds by human error.

The speed Vick showed in his 40 time allowed him to become a dominant runner and passer in the NFL, rushing for over 700 yards and scoring eight touchdowns in his first season.

Throughout his NFL career, Vick continued to use the ground game to complement his passing.

Who is faster Lamar Jackson Or Michael Vick?

In terms of 40 yard dash times, Michael Vick is faster than Lamar Jackson. Michael Vick’s official 40 time was 4.33 seconds while Lamar Jackson’s unofficial time was 4.34 seconds.

Since players take their lowest time of several reps during the 40 as their unofficial 40 time, the human error of the stopwatch usually makes them faster than official 40 times.

In terms of the forty-yard dash, Vick is slightly faster than Lamar Jackson. However, speed is more than just 40 yards.

The ability to move short distances quickly as a quarterback is just as important as their top forty-yard dash speed.

Now that Michael Vick is Retired, How fast can he Run the 40?

When Vick ran a 4.33-second forty-yard dash at the NFL combine in 2001, many fans wondered how fast he could run when he was in his thirties.

To determine his current time, Michael Vick ran the forty–yard dash at the age of 40.

Ultimately, Vick took 4.72 seconds to cover the forty yards. This is quite impressive for a forty-year-old athlete, but he was not pleased with his performance.

As a comparison, Patrick Mahomes ran a 4.8 40 at the 2017 combine while Tom Brady ran a 5.28. This goes to show what an exceptional athlete Vick was and is.
